Mission

Stonyhill is dedicated to exploring and teaching the middlepath concepts required for authentic spiritual growth and the intentional evolution and growth of both human consciousness and individual self-awareness. The Primitive Ego Theory of Human Development© developed at Stonyhill offers an important evolutionary understanding of human development from the narcissism of the primitive ego to an enlightened consciousness.

As a writer and teacher, Dick draws on the rapidly growing bodies of knowledge about human psychological development and the spiritual disciplines and teachings of the worlds major religions. The spiritual wisdom and spiritual practices found in all of the worlds various religions teach us that happiness and love are found only when we learn to intentionally evolve our consciousness through growth in self-awareness.

Diversity, complexity, growth in self-awareness, developing a middlepath spirituality, and learning the spiritual skills required to walk the middlepath in day to day life are at the heart and core of the articles and workshops that Dick offers. Middlepath consciousness is defined simply as the ability to live life in the gray of paradox, ambiguity, uncertainty, and not knowing; a psychological place of emptiness where the love and gentle compassion of Jesus, Buddha and all the great spiritual teachers of history are encountered.

Compassionate community will not emerge on it's own. The insights and skills required to develop compassionate community can be learned, but they require discipline and a commitment to exploring how each of us unconsciously bring the seeds of conflict into the world. A deep commitment to doing no harm to others or the world is an essential first step to achieving a compassionate global community.

This web site is designed to encourage discussion regarding the integration of spirituality and human development. It is also Dick's hope that the ideas and concepts that he presents in the articles on this website and in the Stonyhill Newsletter will bring enlightenment, happiness and hope to anyone who wishes to walk a path of authentic spiritual growth and evolve consciously.
